Dining Out on a Diet | Healthy Restaurant Guide

Dining Out on a Diet | Healthy Restaurant Guide

 Step 5

Here is the question a lot of you have, OK you have started your diet, your are doing the exercises, eating the right foods, and now your friends have called you to go out to dinner tomorrow night to your favorite restaurant. Don't panic, just because you are on a diet does not mean you cannot go out to eat, a lot of people are afraid to go on diets because they don't want to lose their comfort in things they do, like going out to eat. You can go out to any restaurant in the world, however, now you have to make healthier choices when ordering and when you are eating. In this section we will help you and give you advice on going out to eat and having a great time, because the food is not what makes a good time, it's being with people and enjoying the moment.

                            Breakfast...

Going out for breakfast is always a great treat, however you will have to change what you order. Instead of ordering pancakes, bacon, eggs, and hash browns, you should order an egg white omelet filled with vegetables, some fruit, and whole wheat toast, with no butter, you can add jam for flavor.

                               Lunch...

Going out for lunch is more common for working people. If going to say McDonalds, instead of the Big Mac with fries, order the grilled chicken sandwich on whole wheat with no mayo, sliced apples, and an Iced Tea. Most burger joints offer this option. When going to a sit-down restaurant for lunch, instead of ordering ribs with corn, order any grilled fish or grilled chicken breast with vegetables.

                                Dinner...

This is where most of us are tired from our day and just want a nice meal to relax. For an appetizer, try to stay with some type of shellfish, either shrimp, scallops or clams, as long as they are not cooked in butter. Instead of ordering your favorite steak with a rice pilaf, order any grilled fish or grilled chicken breast with vegetables. If bread and butter is served before the meal, you can have some bread, but instead of spreading butter on it, order a side of marinara sauce and dip your bread in it. If you go to a Mexican restaurant for dinner, stay away from the chips, and order grilled fish tacos (with no cheese) and beans (if not refried).

                 Family or Friends Home...

If you are ever invited to a friends or family BBQ party, and burgers are being served, you can have a burger, just make sure you skip the cheese, mayo, and fench fries. Stock up on ketchup, mustard, and plenty of veggies.

                         Commitment...

Basically you can eat out anywhere, anytime, you just have to make healthier choices, so you should keep in mind that going on a diet will not take you away from the places you love to go, you wont be left out of your next night out with your friends, and you will feel so much better after your meals.

Keep Away...Stay away from butter, chesses, red meat, white bread, mayo, chips, ice cream, salad dressings (ranch, blue cheese, thousand island), if you order a side salad, always use Olive Oil as your dressing with a little salt and pepper.
